Welcome (back)! We're excited to have you join us on this journey towards creating thriving ecosystems – vibrant, interconnected environments where individuals, teams, and organisations can flourish.
In today's hyperconnected, fast paced world finding moments of stillness can feel like a luxury we can't afford. But as leaders, cultivating stillness is essential for our well-being and effectiveness.
Disconnecting to reconnect
These last few weeks have been a whirlwind of activity. To find balance, last weekend we escaped into the wilderness and I spent the day fishing for bass with my son, an avid angler.
As bass are shy creatures, hypersensitive to everything going on around them, stillness and quietness was required to entice a bite.
We ventured off the beaten track, after a local showed us where to fish. There was no path as we silently walked along a tall grassy river bank and paying attention to every step, especially after we crossed a pile of shedded snake skin (it was not a python). This forced me to be completely in the present, to switch off my thoughts of the past or the future.
This experience reminded me of the power of disconnecting from the noise and reconnecting with ourselves and the natural world. You can read more about the benefits of fishing or finding moments of stillness in our busy lives in this blog post.
Which wolf are you feeding?
The quietude of fishing also provided ample opportunity for reflection. I thought about this question I ask myself frequently, especially in moments of stress: "Which wolf am I feeding?”
The Cherokee legend of the Two Wolves reminds us that we have a choice in how we respond to challenges. We can feed the wolf of fear and despair, or we can nourish the wolf of courage and hope. Which wolf will you choose to feed today?
Public Service Announcement: Upcoming events 📅
As an extension of The Business Revolution podcast, we are running 2 events this November in Victoria, focused on helping businesses navigate upcoming ESG reporting regulations. Many businesses are unaware of these changes and the impact they will have. Our goal is to empower them to not only manage new risks and survive but to truly thrive.
We want to create a space for local business leaders and organisations to:
Learn - gain practical knowledge and insights on ESG reporting and sustainable business practices.
Get inspired - hear from industry experts and thought leaders who are driving positive change.
Connect - build a network of like-minded first-movers and collaborators
Take action - leave energised with new ideas to implement.
These events, taking place in Geelong on November 6th and Melbourne on November 28th. Please share the word about these two short, small, low cost and valuable events.
